Fresh Holiday 'Dos For Natural Hair

Rolled hairs can be a go-go no need of special treatment to get out this XMAS in style. Scroll down to see how to get this look.

Make a deep side part that starts directly in front of your left ear, then ends just behind the right ear. Sweep the front of your hair to one side. You can use a rattail comb (as seen here) to make the part more precise, or just point your fingers and part away. Grab the back section of your hair and divide it into two equal parts, so there are three sections total. Keep them separated with pins or clips.

Use a natural-bristle paddle brush to smooth the front of your hair down. It will make the front roll really pop, trust us.

Starting at the front of the side-swept section, bobby-pin your hair down along the curve of the head, right over the side of the temple to just over your ear.

Now, just roll your hair upward to cover the pins. Secure the roll with extra bobby pins along the top of the roll and now, the front roll is done.

Okay, let’s care for the back of the style. Grab the back section that's behind the finished roll. Use bobby pins to secure that section down. You'll be pinning from the nape of the neck to the top of the section.

Roll the remaining hair outward and toward your ears to cover those pins in the same manner as before. Secure the roll with extra bobby pins.

Use a pomade to smooth the baby hairs down along the front of your hair before tucking the last part of your hair. “You want it to still have movement, so this helps smooth things back without being too stiff or weighing hair down,” says Miko, who used Miss Jessie’s Baby ButterCreme.

Pin, tuck, and roll the remaining hair of the last section as you did the other back section. Roll, then pin that section upward from the nape of the neck toward the top of the crown. Then, roll the hair to the outside, moving toward the ear over the pins. Secure with bobby pins.

You should now have two upward-facing rolls in the back section of your hair.

Use bobby pins to join the two back rolls together. Cover the part between the two rolls for a cohesive, beautiful shape. Smooth hair along the sides and over the style with a pomade, and you’re done.

Our model, Devan, loved this look. “I love how romantic the style is," she said. "I’d have to wear this somewhere I’d be seen.”

You'll draw attention no matter where you rock this look — it’s a stunner.
